No matter what your budget or tastes, there's bound to be a Cayman Island wedding venue that's just right.

This heavenly Caribbean getaway offers hotel facilities ranging from modest to positively palatial. But a barefoot wedding with décor courtesy of Mother Nature is a great option too. It's up to the happy couple, but either way, preparations need to be made in advance.

First, the couple must arrange for a Cayman Islands marriage officer to preside over the ceremony before applying for the marriage license. A list of officers is available at the Chief Secretary's office. It can be forwarded to the couple in advance of their arrival.

To apply for a special non-resident marriage license, couples must present a passport or birth certificate plus proof of a legal divorce decree if divorced or a death certificate if a spouse has died. Additionally, an immigration pink slip showing legal entry into the Cayman Islands must be presented or documentation proving the betrothed are passengers on a cruise ship.

The minimum legal age for getting married without parental consent is 18. The application for special license can be obtained from the Chief Secretary's Office, 4th Floor/Room 406, Government Administration Building, George Town, Grand Cayman, tel: 345-949-7900.

The fee for this license is CI$150 plus a CI$10 stamp duty (US$200 total). It is possible to obtain this license and get married on the same day.
